Dinosaurs In THe Bible

Yes, the Bible talks about dinosaurs. But, keep in mind, the English word dinosaur was not invented until 1842 (by Sir Richard Owen). The Old Testament was written thousands of years ago in Hebrew. The Hebrew word they used was "Tannin" meaning monster. Sort of goes with Richard Owen's choice of words, the word "dinosaur" means terrible, or fearfully great lizard. When the Bible was first translated into English over 400 years ago, the word they used was "dragon." At that time the word dragon referred to a monster of an animal... a terrible lizard.

I invite you to read more about this on some of our other web sites. Our Science Pastor web site (tap here) has a short video and a web page about dinosaurs in the Bible. On our Dinosaurs For Jesus web site (tap here) dinosaurs talk about dragon slayers and how dinosaurs were hunted and killed. There is even a written record from Marco Polo's time in China about the Chinese eating what appears to be a dinosaur.

This web page provides a summary of our beliefs about the Bible, creation and science. The Dinosaur Tracker Museum is a ministry of Move To Assurance (tap here), a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry dedicated to spreading the bad news about sin and the consequences of sin, and the good news about what God has done to defeat sin and its consequences. We have a number of web sites, listed with links at the bottom of each page on this web site. In addition we have informational booths at fairs, festivals, bazaars, street carnivals... any place people gather. We like to have fun with dinosaurs, without compromising the gospel message. We are hoping to have a physical location for the Dinosaur Tracker Museum in the near future. We have all of the exhibits, including an extensive collection of real fossils as well as replicas, and are currently looking for an affordable location on Oregon's NW coast. The tall rectangular graphics seen as a part of our online tour are the physical signs that go with our exhibits. These appear on the right side of the page on desktops and tablets, and at the bottom of the page on smart phones.

What we believe

There is one living and true God who is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, loyal love and truth who is one in essence, but eternally existent in three persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections, and each worthy of precisely the same worship, confidence, and obedience.

Jesus Christ is God. He was born of a virgin, He led a sinless life, He died on the cross, shedding His blood to pay the penalty we've earned for our sin, He was bodily resurrected, He ascended to the right hand of the Father, and He will return in power and glory.

People are dead and lost in sin. Those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation are saved by grace.

The gospel (good news) is: Christ died to pay the penalty we owe for sin, He was buried, and He was raised to life on the third day.

Neither baptism, nor partaking in communion, are required to be saved nor to continue to be saved.

Attending a specific church is not a requirement to be saved. Christ's Universal Church is composed of all persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head.

Once we are saved nothing can take away that salvation. There is nothing we, or anyone else can do, that will result in the loss of our salvation. However, there are some who believe and claim they are saved, but they never were saved. (Tares among the wheat.) In some cases we are not able, with our human abilities, to discern who among those claiming to be saved are not truly saved.

The Bible is the inspired word of God, true in all that it claims to be true, without error in the original manuscripts. It is our final standard of faith and practice.

Genesis 1 - 2:3 describes the creation of EVERYTHING in six 24-hour days about 6,000 years ago based on the genealogies in the Bible.

Genesis 2:4 - 2:23 describes in greater detail the creation of humanity, male and female, on day six of creation.

Men and women, all skin colors, and people of all nations and cultures... every human was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). No other creature has the image of God, only humanity. The divisions created by people (skin color, face shape, hair type, etc.) are artificial divisions and are not of God. We are all of one race, all equal under God. There are only two groups of people on the earth – those who are saved through trusting in Jesus Christ (God) and those who are not saved. Since salvation is a work solely of God and not of our own doing, salvation does not confer a special status on anyone.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8 & 9

Science is a tool used to gain knowledge about ourselves, our universe, and God. True science is never in conflict with scripture, they work together to give us a more complete picture of God and His creation. Science is not the enemy of the Bible, nor is the Bible the enemy of science. God has created a universe designed to be investigated by humanity using the tools of science.
